My name is Cat and I firmly believe things look better with faces.
Twobadbananas is inspired by the Japanese culture of kawaii (super cute) which basically means: put faces on things and make them oh-my-god cute. I work with fimo, which is a kind of plasticene you can bake hard in the oven, and also with ready made plastic charms which I source from all over the world. Twobadbananas appeals to the young-at-heart, to your inner kid, and to your sense of humour. I love it when I hear people say, "Look! That carrot has a face!" That's the buzz, right there.
I’ve been making jewellery under this monniker for nearly four years, and what started as a hobby has very quickly mushroomed into something much bigger! I've even had to split the jewellery I make into two brands, this one, twobadbananas, is all the cute and kawaii stuff, and my other brand, twopennylane, is vintage inspired jewellery, with a strong fairytales and dolls house theme.
All the jewellery, packaging and graphic design you can see on this site has been chosen, planned, designed, and made by me, though my Dad helps me with the photographs! I now have my own workspace in the house I share in York with my boyfriend, and my cute but naughty cat, Adobe.
I’m a self confessed geek (Lego computer games, Star Wars, Dr Who, Terry Pratchett, you get the picture), and many moons ago I used to work as an Archaeologist. I love reading, watching documentaries on TV, and my favourite colour is green. I don’t like toes or excessively windy days. Lastly, Sean Bean is saving himself for me. He just might not know it yet.
I hope you've enjoyed finding out a little more about me. If you're interested in twopennylane, that range is still going strong too! And if you'd like to get to know me a little bit better through twitter or facebook, well that'd be just dandy.
