  • How I make the twobadbananas packaging

Oh hai there everyone! I know that one of the things people like to read about online is the behind the scenes action! I thought that one of the things that might interest everyone is how I make up the packaging that all the twobadbananas jewellery comes in.

Firstly I start off with buying the cardboard blanks from a manufacturer. I’m aware that whilst the packaging is nice, especially if given as a gift, the ultimate “consumable” is my jewellery. I don’t want to be unnecessarily wasteful, so I use card packets made from environmentally friendly recycled card stock. I chose this lovely sky blue colour to match the theming of the website.

Next up, I stick double sided sticky tape on the flap of every single packet, and trim it by hand. It takes a while, but actually, has never driven me mad yet, even when I’m prepping for fairs such as HyperJapan (soooooo much packaging!).

Then I stick the official twobadbananas logo stickers on to the bottom left corner of each packet. I hand drew the bananas (Frank and Terry) myself and then messed around with the drawing in photoshop until I made my logo. It took a long time and I still don’t know how I did it! I am very pleased with the end result though. I get the stickers printed by an online company who cut them to the custom shape I require.

This last picture is of my friend Emzlebub. She helped me make up all the packaging she is holding in preparation for last years’ HyperJapan event. Don’t worry, I plied her with cake as a thank you :-)

I keep the packets flat so they’re easier to store, and then it’s a simple case of making them up into the proper shape when I’m ready to use them :-) Sometimes I add tissue paper to the inside, and I always add other embellishments to my parcels when I’m sending them out… but to find out what, you’ll have to place an order ;-)
